I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS TRIED USING HORNADY 30 CAL 150 GR SP INTERLOCKS IN A MARLIN LEVER ACTION,I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE TO BE LOADED 1 AT A TIME.MY PROBLEM IS WHEN THE BULLET IS SEATED TO BOOK SPECS ITS WAY PAST THE CANNALURE AND CANT BE CRIMPED BECAUSE THE CASE TOP IS NOT TOUCHING THE BULLET.IS IT SAFE TO SEAT THE BULLET A FEW THOUSANDS OFF THE RIFLEING AND NO CRIMP?

Yes, yes, and yes. Tried it, works fine one at a time. If you're not putting it in a magazine, the crimp isn't really required. As long as you are off the lands, there is no danger of pulling the bullet out of the case. Hope this helps. - Dan

Hi Snowmaker. I guess you just found out about COL and extraction/ejection in lever action rifles. I used a Winchester 94 carbine (top eject). The combination that works is going to depend on what COL your rifle will need to get the bullet close to the lands, and what COL will properly E & E from the rifle. They aren't the same thing. The idea is to get the bullet as close to the lands as you can while still functioning. Once you know what the COL is to the lands, start backing the COL length down (shorter0 until you get to the point where it will function. This will vary from rifle to rifle, but it is as close as you can get to the fabled "whisker off the lands" in a lever action rifle. Hope this helps, and sorry that I wasn't more detailed in my previous post. - Dan

I have loaded 150's with no cannelure before, worked fine in my '94 Winchester. Just make sure you single load. You can even two shot, by putting one cartridge only in the mag.
I have done a lot with a bolt action and a single shot 30-30. I have found the best bullet for deer hunting is the Winchester psp power point. It expands far better than the Hornady at 30-30 speeds. I have shot hundreds of these bullets and also Remington 125 gr psp work real well.
