quote:I used Hornady "Light Magnum" factory loads in 280 Rem. this year. They are loaded with 139gr moly coated SST bullets. Muzzle velocity from my 22" barreled M700 Mountain Rifle was 3100fps across a Pact chronograph. I took 4 Whitetails with 4 shots @ ranges from 190yds to 230yds. I only had to trail 1 that was hit in the back of the left lung, angling back through the liver and paunch. The deer went about 50yds with a good blood trail. The bullet passed through and nicked an unseen deer that was behind the target animal. A very feint blod trail from the second deer cause some confusion for a while. Bullet performance was very good with exit wounds somewhat smaller than I have experienced with Nosler Ballistic Tips. Accuracy seemed on a par with Ballistic tips and the published BC is almost identical to 140gr Ballistic Tips. These are basicly the "Interlock" bullet with a polimer tip. I am pleased with the performance to say the least. | |||
