Another thing is people don't realize how much shipping products actually cost. Sturdy cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, styrofoam "peanuts" are all expensive. If in doubt go to a "mailboxes" store and price them. Midway is strictly mail order. I can't even imagine how much a year they spend on shipping products. Bill T.

Do what I did once. When I was in Japan, I got a big box in the PO and when I cracked the corner of it I saw a sea of peanuts. I knew I didn't have any small parts in there so I stopped at the car wash on the way home, popped a quarter in the mongo vacuum cleaner and sucked them all out before I opened the box the rest of the way. Worked like a charm. Big Grin

There are a lot of gun dealers that don't like Potterfield for doing the things he has done in the gun business. But that's the beauty of it, he did them and it made him a very rich man.

He shut down the only two companys in America (at the time) who made wood stocks.

He put a few trigger companys out of business.

And he killed off some outfits by buying them and shutting them down.

He still has good service, quality stuff, and cheap shipping.

If you didn't want to pay shipping go to Wal-Mart and pick up your 9.3x64 Brenneke dies and 200 rounds of 7.5 Swiss brass.

Midway has done the right thing on every single item I have ever ordered, and that's a lot.

They have also raised over 2 million dollars a year for the NRA for the past 20 years. Kind of hard to beat that.

And your shipping bitch, every time I order something from anywhere (Alaska, I mail order all the time)and especially off of Ebay I am amazed at what they charge.

Small orders cost almost as much to ship as big orders. So don't order $40 worth of stuff, wait and order $400 worth of stuff. Then look at what you saved over your local outfit in sales tax or gas driving to a bigger store.

They also have a good website, have you looked at Cabelas shooting stuff on line? What about Brownells it's really cluttered and the search engine sucks.

BoCash3,
I hear you on the styrofoam stuff!! I found a way to stop the "Clinging". Get yourself a spraycan of "Static-Guard" that you spray on clothes so it don't cling to your butt! Works great on the foam peanuts. Just open the box and givve it a shot before you start digging around in your order. Godsdog.

Just compared a ~$160 order - Midway against Midsouth, Consisting of 1 set dies*, 1 crimp die, 600 bullets*^, 250 brass (200-Midway) & 2 ammo boxes*

Midway had 3* of the items on sale and 1 item^ out of stock (Backorder). Midsouth had all in stock. The total from Midsouth was $4.10 less - and I got 50 more pieces of brass!

Basically, I don't order from Midway anymore - unless they are bottom line cheaper.

If a day goes by when you don't learn something - it was a Total Loss!

Shipping does not have to be high. The Post office has 2 different flat rate boxes out. You pick these boxes up at the post office for free and you can stuff at much stuff into them as you can provided they do not weigh more than 70 pounds. You take the box back to the post office and they will ship it anywhere in the USA priority Air Mail for the flat rate fee of either $7.50 or $7.65. I have had boxes full of bullets weighing up to 69.9 pounds shipped to me this way. I asked Midway to ship my orders to me this way and they refused. I found another business who would. Guess who lost my business? Like someone else said, Fuck Midway.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I ordered electronic muffs. a couple of days later, I receive an email with their specials, and the muffs were on sale. I sent them a good-natured email asking why they were rubbing it in, on a Sunday, and within 30 minutes I had 2 emails in reply and a credit for the difference.

now THAT's customer service.

I'm still nursing a grudge against those cocksuckers at midway. In 1993, I ordered some stuff from them; the asshole on the phone botched my address, so the package was returned. Another jerkoff called me, cussed at me over the phone because their own cocksucking shithole employees can't understand english, and when I finally, two months later got my order, they'd tagged my credit card for another shipping charge, and fuck you.

I hope that place burns down with all the employees and their miserable families with them in it. It would serve those shitholes right.

I think 120 mm should tell us how he really thinks and not hold back.
I feel we as a group are somewhat screwed we need the stuff that most of us can only buy on-line or mail order. With the fuel costs, the labor/benifit costs of all involved, and how long have you watched T.V. these days without seeing an ad for a shippiing company of some sort. All these costs are inevitably passed on to us,the consumer,to the extent of what the market will bear. Just my $.02. Chain

I have always received GREAT service from Midway. I know what their shipping is before I buy and have the option of not buying. Besides that I have a friend that works in Columbia and picks up my orders for me with no shipping Charges. sofa Or it is one day shipping to me. I appreciate the large selection and that they are in my back yard. P.S. I've had good luck with Grafs also.

Count me in on the Mid-south group. Best customer service of all of them and if you have any complaints they take care of it right on the spot. Best prices and shipping is fair.

I think you need to just plan out your midway order in advance, the only thing I don't like is it would not let me change the shipping to USPS parcel post. It would only let me use UPS, is there a way to change this when you order

I just received my latest order from Midway today.

I placed the order on Sunday, so it didn't get "worked" until Monday. Here it is Wednesday & my stuff was waiting when I got home.

Not bad in my eyes!

Check out the prices-

I have. Unfortunately, I live in TN, where Midsouth is located. Frowner

That means I get to pay an extra 9.25% tax on anything I would buy from them. Mad Their prices aren't usually 10% better than the rest, so I come out behind...

I agree with you -- Midway's shipping charges are quite annoying. But I still order from them because their website is better than Grafs', their shipping is prompt, and they do tend to have a larger number of items in their inventory. They also produuce better catalogs and do so more often, and they often have specials on things that I can use, such as bullets or cases or cleaning supplies. I have also bought scopes from them.

But their shipping and handling charges really suck.

Lloyd-

When ordering from Midway, look into alternate shipping options.

On the order I just received, the "default" shipping was UPS ground. I chose Priority Mail instead. Not only will I *not* use UPS for anything, but Priority Mail was actually cheaper by almost $2! ($5.45 Priority vs $7-something for UPS).

I consider $5.45 for a set of dies and some bullets to be reasonable, especially when I have my stuff in basically two days...
