My sister used to live in Alaska; her husband told me that the Inuit (Eskimos) hunt Polar Bears with .223's. If that sounds too small to you, they used to use .22 Hornet's . Brady

I have both, my 22-250 only has a 22" barrel so I am not sure how much can be gained with a barrel this short. I think i like the 223 better cause it is low recoil, and the best part is there is tons of cheap ammo out there. Like someone else said you are only gaining 40 yards at best.
