I've got the flyer Mulerider mentioned, no loads listed for the '06. According to Accurate "this powder is slower than 1680 and faster than 2230". It works great in 222 and 223. If you want a copy of the data sheet, give me a mailing address and I'll make a copy and send it to you.

My only regret is I didn't buy but one jug of it!

AA-2200 was made in the Czech Republic after the demise of Czechoslovakia, by Synthesia, for (East) Germany, according to the two executives of AA that I met at the S.H.O.T. Show the year they offered it.



The DDR reportedly had a policy of keeping a two year reserve supply of powder suitable for their military cartridge on hand in bulk. Every two years they would turf it all on the surplus market to the highest bidder and buy another bulk supply. It was bought that time by AA, who packaged and sold it as AA-2200.



Apparently, with the reunification of Germany that policy (and powder supply) disappeared.

AA 2200 and 500 Grain Hornady .458 bullets will generate just over 2200 FPS in my .458 Win Mag. I only know that I did not buy enough of it.

Slower

Has anyone tried or have any information on using AA 2200 in 44 magnum? Some charts show it close to W296 which would make it very appropriate, others show it significantly slower than W296. If someone has tried this please share your experience.

I have a lot of AA 2200 that I'm not using much of at the present time, and if it works well enough in 44 mag it would be an advantage to me. However if it is too slow and gives Bullseye velocity and huge muzzle flash, I don't want to bother going there.

AA will tell you about using 1680 in the 44 mag. AA2200 is slower than 1680. Work up.

Is a very, very good .223 powder. Have used a bunch of it

Can tell you that it is not a flash-deterred powder! Makes monster muzzle flash when ammo loaded with it is used in a registered 11.5" M16

Shot some about two hours ago in practice ammo for my Service Rifle. I still have about 30lbs of it and am always looking for uses for it.

AA put out some load data for 2200 that I copied off their website a couple years ago. Dunno if it's still there but it was under "Data Powders".
