Trying to find length to the rifling in my rifle and it seems to be much farther than I had thought it to be.

How much freebore is there in the 300 win mag Model 70?

I opened the mag and modified the ejector and bolt stop to load longer O.A.L. looks like I will be able to seat the bullets to the magazine and still not be near the rifling.

Does this seem right?

With 168gr TSX's I could go as far as I wanted it seems in my Remington 700 300WM......My box limits me to 3.340" though so that's where I load.

MY new tikka t3 in 300 win mag has a ton of freebore. Still shoots like a house of fire at magazine length. Funny thing is it is a pretty "slow" barrel and I'm wondering if the freebore is gonna let me go a bit more powder than normal. It's about 90fps slower with a 25.5" barrel than my savage with a 24" barrel. Someday I'll push it a bit more on the powder end but that gun is so light that a 180 grainer doing 2950 seems "barely acceptable" to my shoulder.
