I have reformed 30-06 brass to 270 successfully. My only question is that besides the 270 I have a 243 win and a 338 win mag. What caliber cases can be used to form these other 2 cases. When I'm at the range I try to get peoples factory brass when they don't reload. It's difficult the get once shot 338 win brass, but is there something I can use to form that caliber safely and easily. Oh yea 243 also. I wonder if a 308 can be necked down to 243. I don't have much of a problem finding 243 brass, though. Just 338 win mag. Thanks.

it was a novelty to show the other kids in school that i could shoot 30-06 in my .243... they didin't undestand reloading... and that i'd used a file-type rcbs case trimmer to size the 30-06 down to .243... only about 1 in 10 survived the resizing, neck reaming, etc... 15 yrs old, 1973... to answer your question, several cases use the same rim diameter..... .243, 308, 7x57 mauser, 30-06, 35 whelen, just to name a few... on the .338 cases, you can start with a .264, 7mm rem mag, 300 win mag, 338 win mag, .458 win mag... perhaps the best bet is to just pick up all the empties, sort them, and trade for what you really need....
