popcornIt is one of the last surplus powders available. Powder Valley is selling it for $69.00 for 8 lbs. It's burning rate is almost identical to The 4350s but since it is a ball powder more of it can be put into a case without comprssion. For example; with a 55 gr. bullet in a 22-250 41.5 gr. of DP 85 will drive the buullet over 3600 fps. in my rifle with little or no pressure indication. The accuracy is great. beerroger

A 4350 rate ball powder for cheap is a great thing!

I really ought to get some myself.

Bartsche, What scout scope are you using? Do you like it? I have an NC Star cheapo 2.5x on my K-31. I didn't expect much for the price, and thats what I got. I have a hard time picking up things in the woods. All I see are trees, I can not quickly find a certain stump or bush. Is this likely a cheap scope problem, a scout style problem, or lack off familiarity? I'm looking at the Burris and Leupold scouts as an upgrade. Input?

I have four Mod. 98 scouts; 3 with BSA 2 x 20mm and a Bushnell 1 1/2 power. I try to get a lot of off hand practice with these and I find them very quick to pick up a target. Once in a while I shoot 300 yds. or so but mostly keep it 200 or under.
