I have loaded new brass "out of the box" with no prep, but only when I was in a big hurry, seemed to work just fine but I don't make a habit of it. I run it thru the full length sizer, and in/out chamfer the necks. I used to ream/uniform the flash holes, but unless you're goin' for BR accuracy I don't think it's worth the effort, and even then, I'm not sure it's all that critical. Others will have diifferent opinions I'm sure, but it works for me.

I don't full length size new brass. I true up the case mouth with either a lyman M die or a hornady die with eliptical expander. Then I do a inside/outside chamfer and I'm ready to go.

Why take the chance? I always resize new brass. For the what, 10 sec's it takes to resize one case, its alot less trouble when you are at the range when you want all rounds to work. My 2 pennys

You can go either way. New factory ammo isn't resized, so I am sure it doesn't hurt. I measure my new cases to ensure none of them are over length, true up the necks in the sizing die, then deburr inside and out and load. What I hate about full length sizing is cleaning the lubricant off of the cases. After I have fired them the first time, I will full length resize with my RCBS X-Die, then trim all to minimum length, deburr and am ready to go. I figure the initial firing should get some of the stretch out before initial trimming.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Have you ever tried Hornady One Shot case lube? I haven't yet, but I hear it's the cat's meow, doesn't need to be cleaned off, but some do tumble for a few mins after reloading.

Actually, I have tumbled off the lube after sizing with the conventional RCBS case lube, but found that it gunks up the media really fast. A cheapskate like me doesn't like to have to buy new tumbling media too often. Same thing with case lube, while I am sure the Hornady spray on lube works great, a bottle of RCBS lube lasts for years and years.

Normally I will run the new case over the expander ball to round out the neck, chamfer..Load and shoot...

the time to work the brass to specs is AFTER it seats in your particular chamber, new brass is almost always short of chamber specs, so once its fireformed then do all the other stuff.

I threw my Hornady one shot case lube in the trash after the second or third stuck case.
After fifty years of loading I just discovered
Imperial Die Wax, I'm in love. I tumble after
sizing to clean the lube off. I have tried
recycling media by washing with soap and water and rinsing good then spreading out on a towel in the Arizona summer sun to dry. It works but I am too old and lazy now, I just buy new.
If the cases are real dirty I tumble before sizing to save damage to my size die.
