I have a 6" LAR Grizzly - fantastic shooter. Hard to find load data though as you've seen.

I've loaded the following:

19.0gr. of H110
300 gr. Sierra JSP

I never did chrono the load, but it was safe in my gun. Recoil wasn't bad either. I was guessing around 1200 fps.

My Speer #10 manual shows: 260gr. JHP, 24.5-26.5 of H110: Velocity 1450-1600fps from a 10" Wildey.

Several loads at Handloads.com:

http://www.handloads.org/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=4...ght=All&type=Handgun

300gr XTP 20.0 gr H110 1,367 fps 1.485" CCI 350 Speer
Suggested starting load: 18.0 gr
14" Contender barrel

300gr XTP 17.0 gr AA #9 1,302 fps 1.485" CCI 350 Speer
Suggested starting load: 15.3 gr
14" Contender barrel

300gr XTP 17.0 gr VV N110 1,287 fps 1.485" CCI 350 Speer
Suggested starting load: 15.3 gr
14" Contender barrel

300gr XTP 16.0 gr 2400 1,272 fps 1.485" CCI 350 Speer
Suggested starting load: 14.4 gr
14" Contender barrel

300gr XTP 25.0 gr AA 1680 1,286 fps 1.485" CCI 350 Speer
Suggested starting load: 22.5 gr
14" Contender barrel
Compressed load

***Personal Note: Make SURE you buy .451 sized bullets! .452's wouln't chamber in my Grizzly as the are sized for a .45 Colt... Imagine my surprise there.

Good Luck!

Regards,

Robert

Thanks rnovi at the cost of the bullets and the time of setting up the cronagraph I just couldn't see wasting all the time building up the load. You are most correct on the lack of horsereloading data I also have a conversion to 357 and usually run about 2gr over max listing. I agree a most unusual experience that 45 Mag.

Hey Dan,
Accurate has five different loads listed for 300 SP's. Call me if you want and I'll give 'em to ya.
