Several year ago I purchased 500 primed Remington .44 cases for my pistol. Many are left. I don't recall the type of primer the cases had. Do you suspect the primers are magnum or just large pistol primers? If they are only large pistol primers, case hot .44 loads be placed into the case and have acceptable performance?
It doesn't matter. The primary difference in "magnum" and "standard" primers is the label and the price. Some brands of "standard" primers have more force than other brands of "magnum" primers. Load them and shoot. You'll never be able to figure out which they were.

Without a chronograph, I'm not sure how to be objective. 99.99999% of my rounds punch holes in paper no further away than 25 yds. If the ballistics of a round with a large pistol primer but max loads of 231 fall below the intended point of impact, I'll just adjust my sights. I just don't want the round to misfire( which I can't understand how it would) or go half way down the barrel (again seems impossible).
