SmilerAs the old saying goes "we can't see the Forest for all the trees." I was working up several loads for my 260 and ran out of cases. So I decided the wait and shoot several rounds and then load up the newest tryouts. Today I wasn't feeling the best and decide to just seperate the 5 plastic Ice cream buckets full of cases picked up on the range. As I went through them the old light (dimmed by age bewildered nut) finally lit up as I found a bunch of once shot 7MM/08 cases. I cleaned them up, ran them through the die and ta da-260 cases. Then I ran some .243 cases through the die and out came 260 cases. Then I decided to try a 308 case and out came a 260 case. So here I was looking at these buckets, out of cases and couldn't see the Forest for the 7MM/08 cases and the 243 cases and the 308 cases. Roll Eyes

It's one of the mysteries of physics, to me, that one can run a parent cartridge into a smaller FLS die and it comes out perfect.

Necking up a 243 case to 6.5 mm is not a problem.... I normally run it thru the full length sizing die twice...

I do find the 308 cases necked down do have to have the bottom of the neck sized a little lower with a neck sizing die after being sized in the full length die...

As far as the 7/08 cases.. I love the 260 owing several of them...I also prefer Winchester cases most times to Remington...Since Winchester doesn't make 260 cases, I neck down 7/08 Win Cases for most of my 260 needs...Holds a little more powder also, if I feel I need the need for a little more powder ( usually don't since I use mid range powders instead of the real slow ones)..

Unfortunately I don't find a lot of guys shooting 7/08s and dumping their brass at our range...So Lucky find in my book...

cheers
