Anybody know where I can get my hands on
South African SOMCHEM reloading powder?
Friend I know says this stuff is da bomb!

Reloader - Somchem is as good as it gets in "South Africa". Most reloaders in RSA will tell you they would rather have American powders. It does seem to net very consistent burn rates, however, they do not produce enough variance in burn rates to be everything for every caliber.

I do not believe it is exported to the U.S. Furthermore, you would have shit luck attempting to have it shipped to the U.S.

I speak from experience.....

Somchem supplies only a few powders which in themseves are good, but do not cover the entire spectrum of burning rates. eg there is no equivalent to IMR4064, a glaring gap, for which us local shooters have to create "duplex" loads. (Do a search on "duplex" on this site, you will see what is involved and what we have to go through)

You are better served that side of the pond with what you have.

I bought a 8lb jug of Accurate 2230C, it says made in RSA. Must be the powder you are talking about.
