I was loading some 6 BR this morning - had some cases sized and primed and loaded them. Decided to case prep more cases and got in a rush and broke a decapping pin. I replaced the pin and when I tried to resize the first case, it buckled. It appears that the expander button is too big to fit into the case. I miked it and it measures .242, which seems correct. If I remove the the expander assembly no problewms with the cases buckling. With the expander button installed, the cases buckle.I am using Lapua cases that have been fired 4 or 5 times. Been loading 40 yrs. and cannot remember having this problem. What do I do?

Did you get the expander back in to high? If it's in the neck portion of the die you'd be trying to size and expand at the same time.

I'm thinking when you broke your pin you may have also bent the decapping stem. If it is bent it could be pushing so hard on one side of the case mouth that it is buckling the case. Pull it out and roll it accross the table and see if it wobbles. If it does it is bent. I broke my first pin a couple weeks ago on some weatherby that had the "glued" in or sealed primers. Someone warned me that often when you break the pin you bend the stem it mounts in. Luckily for me It was straight as could be and away I went making perfect ammo again. If it's not what Tailgunner described or this I can't think of any other possiblities.

Tailgunner was right. The expander button was too high. The decapping stem was OK. CAnnot believe that I didn't see the problem immediately. Thanks guys.
