For what it's worth. I am currently working up loads for my Encore with 26" .264 WM 1-8" twist barrel. Using IMR 7828 and Ramshot Magnum with 140 Speer, 140 SST, 130 TSX, 120 Ballistic tip in new Rem. cases with CCI 250 primers. Max load with 140's and 7828 is 63 gr. at 3050 fps. (.0005" belt expansion), Magnum is 67 gr. for same velocity and belt expansion. So in my rifle it takes 4 gr. more magnum to accomplish the same work. Group sizes are not great-got work to do there. One thing I notice with either powder is erratic belt measurements. One string of 5 shots went like this: 1).0005" 2).0002" 3).0008" 4).0003" 5).0006". How the hell can you tell where you are at when you get readings like that? Have not seen any other pressure signs around the heads or primers and I always mic the same place, I place the ".264" on the headstamp on the anvil so I measure the same place each time. Any suggestions? Rick

I loaded up 63.0 grains of H4831 with a Sierra 120 grain bullet for the most accurate load I've found with my Model 70. I've used the 125 grain Nosler Partition without regret also. Keep in mind I've not attempted to harm anything bigger than an antelope and a Blacktail deer with mine and would surely move up to a 140 grain bullet for bigger game.
