Im just loaded to compare H & IMR 4350 in 30-06 and 6.5x55

How have you found they compare far as burn rate, pressure all other things being equal?

they appear to be identical and this includes the AA-4350 as well.

HOWEVER.....Until Hodgdons announces that they are identical it's my feeling that they need to be considered different.

Most people consider IMR4350 a touch faster burning than H4350 and AA4350 much slower.

I use IMR4350 and H4350 powders and they are not in my 375 H&H, 6.5x284, 300 WSM or 7 Mag.

Fjold, would you please clarify?

Why do you rate burning speeds such, and what has this to do with in what chamberings you don´t use them???

Just interested, I love 4350, in ´06, but will try 7 x 57 (R) in the future.

Don´t get me wrong, I want just know what you mean.

Frank nailed it. IMR-4350 is just a little bit faster burning that H-4350.

I have no experience with AA4350, but IMR4350 is definitely faster in my guns than H4350. I would actually say that H4350 is closer to IMR4831.

I had thought Imr was a bit faster too. From my loading notes about a year ago in a 30-06 FN m98 husqvarna with 180 grainers.

Not much though. I could go 57, 57.5,/ 180 gr with hodgdons, but 57 gr with IMR bolt got sticky and looser primer pockets with that paticular rifle

In the last few years I have been stung on AA-4350 and XMR-4350. There was quite some variability on both that I have tried. The AA that I got was slower than IMR and H-4350 and the XMR had a burning rate very close to 4831. Could be an isolated incident but I have gone to IMR exclusively and will not change regardless of price.

I have used IMR 4350 for a long time. It was called Dupont IMR 4350 at that time. I compared it to H 4350 way back when and they were not the same. I would assume that they are not the same today.

After load testing in a 30-06, it is my considered opinion that AA4350 and IMR 4350 are close enough in velocities versus powder charge, that they can be used interchangeably. It is also my considered opinion that it takes at least one grain more of H4350 to achieve the same velocities that you would get with IMR 4350.

This may be close enough that it is within the manufacturing tolerances of the powder manufacturers.

I have both powders.

In my 375 H&H using the 260 Partition the IMR4350 shoots 85 fps faster than the H4350 with the same powder weight. And to an entirely different point of impact. The IMR always shot noticeably tighter groups than the H4350, everytime.

In my 6.5x284 the H4350 shoots to half the group size using the 142 grain SMK than with the IMR4350 with a noticeable difference in velocity, standard deviation and point of impact.

Experiments with my 7 Mag and 300 WSM with both powders consistently shows that the H and IMR powders burn differently.

Believe me, I'm trying to only use one powder but the guns like what they like, so I use both brands.

I've only used H4350 in my 06. I loaded some 200 grain Nosler Partitions in RP cases with 52 grains of H4350 and CCI 200 primers. I managed 1.5" groups at 100 yards with my rifle. Shot my first bear in AK in may with this load. Rifle is a stock Rem M700 ADL with a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8 scope with QR bases and rings. I got around the 1.5" groups with 52.5 grains as well. I can't complain about the powder it has done me well still have not used up the first pound yet.

My last lots of H4350 have been just a smidge faster than I4350 I have on hand. My last lot of AA4350 was considerably slower than the other two....the aa was mor like I4831.
I guess it just shows that from lot to lot you never know what you're gonna get.
