I decided to sell my RCBS RS3 press, Piggyback II and Uni Flow powder measure and get one of the Hornady LNL AP progressive presses. A little later on I'll add a case feeder but probably won't get a bullet feeder. The AP press should handle .223, 7.62 x 39 and 6.5 Grendel better than the PBII, I think. Who else here has the Hornady LNL AP Press and how has it ran for you? Any things to watch out for on these presses? Thanks for any info.

Hornady is the best; by far. Read the directions and it will run for you.

i have the hornady and the dillon - i've used most of the dillon gear, and it's good. the hornady is AT LEAST as good as the dillon 650, for less cost than the 550.

hornady has a youtube channel and there's good videos for tuning it. getting the powder throw right needs a little guidance, then you'll get it

since it's new to you, order several of the primer springs and the primer cams - this is the wire rail - just get 4-5 of them, trust me, you'll frag 2 pretty quickly, as the machine has more than enough leverage to bend them, if you pull the lever when there's a hang up.

if you don't have shop air, get a can of air (pc duster) to clean off any powder spills -- these are the nightmare for all auto progressive reloading machines

best of luck -- you'll figure out the rhythm fairly quickly

You got the best one; the only thing Dillon has is its' massive advertising campaign to make up for the serious design flaws in it. Three of my friends sold their Dillons once they saw my Hornady; a Pro Jector model. The LNL is even better.

Thanks for the heads up on the primer springs and cams, press won't be here till the first of the week but I'll go ahead and order a couple of extra. Do those have to come from Hornady?

Is it the large spring (case retainer spring?)that I hear about people crushing or is it the primer spring?

the large spring, you'll replace mebe twice -- the primer shoe spring will be ruined when you ruin the primer cam --- and you will, because, well, its designed that way, and in the 90 seconds of screwing up to learn how to fix it, you figure out how NOT to ... and it's user error... i buy mine on midway

I returned a Dillon 650 that would not seat primers even after returning it to the factory. I replaced it with the lock and load and have been happy ever since. The Hornady is also not a major pain in the azz like the Dillon was changing calibers.

Got it all cleaned up and installed today and ran about 300 9mm rounds in just a short while with not one problem. It is faster than my PB II. I think I am going to love it. I can't wait to get a case feeder for it. I watched 76Highboy's videos on U Tube and he had some good tips and tricks.
