3/12 range report-250-3000 & .222
fishing250-3000 stevens Mod. 200 w/ Shaw replacement Barrel.
  • 11.2 gr. SR 7625, WW cases, #34 primers.
  • 75gr. FP Bulk, oal= 2.365", MILD, sooty, 3 shot 3/4" group at 50 yds.
  • 90gr. HP., Game King, oal=2.610", MILD, sotty, 3 shot .300" group @ 50 yds.12" drop at 200 yds. barrel never heated.
  • 100gr. spitz, psp.,oal=2.700",MILD, sooty, low recoil just super @ 50 yds.

    In useing these fast burning powders reduced pressure is always sought. The loading procedure is always checked and double checked to exclude as much as is humanly possible from throwing an over or double charge. Any questionable load is DUMPED and no bullet seated.
  • 36.7gr. wcc846, WW cases, #34 primers,
  • 75gr. FP, Bulk, oal= 2.360", sooty, 1" group @50yds., After barrel heated some it shot a 3shot .200" group at 50yds.
  • 90gr. FB HP., Game King, oal=2.650", Some soot, 4 shot .200" grp @ 50yds., after barrel heated.
  • 100gr. spitz. psp., oal2.700", 1" group at 300 yds.fantastic.
  • 90gr. Fb HP., 34.8gr. DP 74, oal=2.615", 6 shot .400" group @ 50yds. after 2 warm up shots***

    *** It happened almost exactly identical Twice with the same bullet and different powders. Never clean rifles at the range so it must be heat affect.

    .222, CZ Mod. 527, RP cases, #200 primers, 21.8gr DP. 73.
  • 40 rg. FBhp., Berger, oal=2.155", Mild, some soot, 3 shot .200" group@ 50yds.
  • 50gr psp Rem., oal=2.200", Mild, soot, So-So,
  • 50gr. TNT. Speer, oal=2.244" .300" @50 yds. Mild and just great.
  • 55gr. FBHP., Berger, oal= 2.210", mild and sooty, 6 shot 3/8" group @ 50 yds.after warm up shot.Than a 3 shot 1" group at 200 yds.
  • 55gr. Varmint Nite Mare, oal=2.185", 3 shot 3/8" group @ 50 yds. with hot barrel. shot just great at 300yds.

    Interesting report. Just curious - why were you using those CCI #34 primers? Those things are HARD, plus are usually tough to find in my area.

    Bought 15,000 a couple of years ago at a great price. The only problem I've seen is on a Ruger .257, 38 years old with a slightly weak fireing pin spring ( miss fire with first strike).

    You also must adjust your thinking when looking for pressure indications. The hardness seems to mask high pressure signs somewhat. beerroger
