Anyone have a good hunting load using the 185gr Rem Core-Lokt with IMR4064 in the 8 X 57?

You have hit one of my favorite loads. Used it in the 8 x 57 and 8 x 60 with excellent results on Plains Game. Individual guns vary, but start with 46 gr of IMR 4064 and work up from there.

Thanks. My guesstimate using the 30-06 and .308 data was 45 or 46gr, but I didn't trust it. How fast is your load? 2600fps or better?

Its an outstanding load. The 185 core loct is a well concieved bullet for the 8X57 and of all the powders I tried in mine 4064 was THE powder for the 8X57. I would suggest starting @ about 43-44 grns and work up. A max load should yeild you about 2650-2700 fs from a 24" tube.

Quote: 46 gr. was 2550 in a 24" barrel, and work up from there. W-W Brass and CCI 200 Primers.
