After searching for a while and even calling Nosler, I've been unable to find suggested start and max loads for Nosler 150 grain Partition and Ballistic Tip bullets in a 7mm Remington Magnum using R22 and H4350 powders. I see data for IMR 4350 and for R22 using 140 and 160 grain bullets. My own manual doesn't help. I'd also appreciate start and max loads for 130 grain Hornady SP interlocks and H4350 powder for a .270 Winchester. A while back I posted on using a single powder for all three cartridges (H4831). I broke down and couldn't resist buying other powders. Now I want to try some more combinations. Any suggestions?

Nateh,I have the Lyman 48th edition here, and it lists Reloader #22 at 60.0-67.0 for the 150gr. silertip, not a partition, but close to the BT. The 140gr. in that book is a Nosler SP, IMR-4350 58-66gr. 6.5 SWEDE

Load data is not a recipe merely a guideline. You can use load data for any 140, 160gr bullet as long as you follow the basic rule of reloading, "Start Low and Work Up Looking For Signs of Pressure Along The Way". It is true that different brands bullets can have different effets on pressure. Start low and work up, it's the only way.

I would suggest you pick up the Hodgdon 2007 Annual Manual. It is only $7.99 and has loads for 50 rifle and pistol cartridges. For the 7mm Remington mag using the 150 grain Nosler Partition they list a starting load of 55 grains of H 4350 for a velocity of 2781 fps. The max load listed for H 4350 is 57 grains for 2859 pfs. These seem like pretty mild loads to me, but that is what is printed. For the 270 Winchester shooting the 130 grain Hornady SP they show a starting load of H 4350 as 51 grains for 2865 fps. The maximum load listed for H 4350 is 54 grains for 3012 fps. Hope this is of some help. R Flowers

Steve's pages are the best source for me. He lists most Calibers and all powders with starting and max loads. Just follow the basic rules low to high and you should be finhttp://stevespages.com/page8.htme.

I did a little looking around and you are right, loads for RL 22 using 150 grain bullets in the 7mm Rem Mag is hard to find. However, the 7th Edition Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading shows data for RL 22 using their 154 grain bullets. I see no reason why load data for 154 grain bullets would not be safe for use with any of the 150 grain Nosler offerings so long as you start on the low end. On page 389 of this manual Hornady lists the following for RL 22 using 154 grain bullets: Starting load 56.6 grains for 2600 fps Maximum load 63.4 grains for 2900 fps Hope this helps. R Flowers

Thanks all. Alliant's site had nothing for that bullet size. I found Hogdon's numbers and they do look pretty light, but you've got to start somewhere. Steve's pages had some good data. I think I have enough to get going. I'm trying to find a good hunting load for this fall with the 150 Partitions. I'll practice with the ballistic tips. Take care, Nate
