Just inherited a .243 Model 70 and am looking for some load data. Will be used from coyote to white tail deer. I would appreciate any powder/bullet combinations that anyone has found performs well for them. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

I like a Nosler Ballistic Tip 70gr over 44gr of H414 and a WLR primer.Very accurate and very devastating on groundhogs.I shoot a Ruger#1 and my overall length is 2.710 but I don`t know if that would fit in your magazine.
I started at 42.3gr H414 but it didn`t come together grouping well until 44gr.Then I experimented with seating depth until the rifle sounded like tuning fork sound instead of a large boom.Seems a little crazy but that is what it sounds like on this particular rifle.
That particular bullet may not be the best choice for deer for the damage it does if you would hit a rib bone but most of the time the rib bones are goners anyway.I have no doubt that it would destroy a deer quickly.I have literally taken the heads off groundhogs with this combo. And instantly killed larger animals.Other times the bullet has a real small entry and no exit.

Some say Varget in 308 style cases, either of the 4350 powders, some say IMR3031.

In any case it is my belief not to clean the barrel thouroughly when developing a load.I just brush the bore out. It`ll give you true results that you won`t get if you put solvent down the bore.My opinion.

I've had best luck with H4350 with bullets from 75g Hornady HP to 105 g speer hot core.

I only load 243 as a fun practise round, so I only use powders that work for 30-06. You may want to try some of the slower powders for the heavier bullets.

Historically, I have had good luck with IMR-4064 with bullets of 60 to 80 gr for varmints, and for deer, 95 or 100 gr (usually Noslers) with IMR-4350 or H-450. H-450 is no longer available, but Reloder 22 should also work well with the heavier 6mm bullets.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.
