I was wondering how throat erosion will affect accuracy? I have a Rem 700 chambered in .308 Win. with Pacnor heavy barrel that has had several thousand rounds put through it.
Over the years, I have adjusted the OAL of my reloads to fit .010 off the lands. I recently clean out the bottom draw of the reload bench and went through some old records of my load and noticed that my OAL has been growing over the years. I think this is due to throat erosion. My groups are sub .5 MOA @ 100m. But i was wondering if I should get a new barrel or just keep "loadin' 'em longer"?
Not claiming to be an expert. Shooting sub 1 MOA's at various ranges will allow you to achieve a High Master rating. You can't do much better than that. As long as your shells fit in your magazine I would not be concerned about increasing your OAL. Would love other's thoughts.
