I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but my 300H&H will be arriving from the gunsmith shortly, and I'm starting to think about feeding it. Any recommendations on loads for 165 and 180 gr. bullets? Accuracy and brass life are more important than raw max. velocity.

Do a search for 300 H&H loads on the site. It has been a topic of interest many times over. Good choice of cartridge, I recently acquired one and have fallen in love with what it can do accuracy-wise. I have had good luck with H4831 using 65 grains with 180 grain bullets. Should yield you about 2800 fps depending on barrel length. I am fortunate enough to have a 26" tube on mine. I haven't played around with 165 grain bullets yet. Once again, good choice with regards to the H&H, a true classic cartridge. Regards, Wyo

My gold standard for the 180gr is 65gr of IMR 4350 behind a Nosler Partition. Incredible accuracy out of a pre-war Model 70. MV about 3010. jorge PS: CCI-250 primers and WW brass

I load 73 grains of H-4831SC under a 180 gr. Partition in both my 700 Classic and my 721. It's a great performer in both guns. Approach with caution as this is a maximum load. For lighter bullets use H-4350.
