mori shultzG63 6.5x55 shoots too high
I have a Swedish G63 target rifle in 6.5x55 and it is set up with sights(aperature)for 300 meters. As a result it shoots at the top (12 o'clock high) at 100 yards. The rear receiver sight is all the way down and the front aperture sight is non adjustable. What could I load to drop the point of impact at leas 6 inches at 100 yards? Mori

jeffeosso6 in is ALOT of change ... do you have a chrono?
replace the front sight with a taller one

Jim C. <><Check the bedding. If your barrel has a significant amount of up pressure in the stock it needs to be relieved. (It would be difficult to raise a front aperture.)
What kind of front sight does your rifle have?
If it is the type that slides over an inverted dovetail block. You can buy a "taller" block.
The big question is how much taller? That is a math problem, and I'm not very good here. But do know you need to know the distance between the rear sight and front sight. The angle is 6 minutes(if you want to move mechanical zero down 6" at 100 yds). And the trig function is where I get lost.

jeffeossohow much taller is easy to actually get right...
without a chrony
meaure original height..
glue a match stick to the sight, use a marker to make it black
trim it down and retest ... that is now you needed height.

JD MillerYou can get a taller front sight. Go to
http://forums.gunboards.com/fo...mp-Sporting-Firearms Someone will point you where to get a front sight, maybe Kebco

mori shultzThe barrel on this rifle is free floated, so it is not bearing on any wood at all. I am going to the range this week with some light loads and lighter bullets.(120 grains and 129 grains) Will report back. Mori

faster AND lighter hit lower
Yea jeff, lighter bullets are easyer for gravity to pull them down

jeffeossono, JD . his point of aim is FIXED ---
.. if at the same velocity, the lighter bullet has less impulse, raising the muzzle LESS .. and if faster, they exit the muzzle faster..
the bullet leaves the barrel with less up angle, either way, or both, to a point ..
i'll take your question as a question, rather than getting noy'ed about it ... less, ya'll, lighter bullets at the same speed hit LOWER than heavier, and faster bullets, AT THE SAME POINT OF AIM, hit LOWER ...

That is a much easier way to get the height.
Thanks for that tip. So simple. I guess I was looking too hard. Couldn't see the forest for the trees.
Now I can forget about math for a while again. Good thing, trig gave me a headache.

jeffeossoUse super glue, and acetone takes it right off.

JD MillerCG63 would have the Elit Kornring front sight assembly. Peep or post insert. Looked it up in my Swede book
