Gidday Guys,

Does anyone have any loads for a 222 using ADI mulwex AR2201 powder for 40gr and 50gr projectiles.

I have a truck load of this powder still left and am told that it is perfect for a 222.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hamish,

I find no refernce for AA2201 on ADI's website,

http://www.adi-limited.com/handloaders-guide/equivalents.asp

You refer to "powder still left" is it a previously manufactured powder?

When you get the powder sorted out - 40 grainers are really vougue today but my vast expereince with the .222 Remington has been it delivers it's best accuracy and cartridge potential with 50 grain bullets, right now my two .222 Remington's are having a love affair with the Speer 50 gr. TNT.

Yeah the 2201 is quite an old powder, about 20 years old.

I got it from an old guy who had stopped reloading but who I know was quite meticulous in his loading and habits. It's still in its original tins.

I was hoping that another old timer (like me) on here may have been able to help.

Hamish,
Get onto the ADI website and email them. They may be able to supply some data. If I remember correctly it was fairly similar to AR2206, which I believe replaced it? I reckon I have their first reloaders guide in my shed somewhere with loads for AR2201 ... I'll take a look tomorrow.
Cheers...

Decided to take a look sooner rather than later ... no luck, the first paper manual (1986)did not have AR2201

2206 is the current designation for 2201. I would use 2206 load data remembering to start 10% below max. The reason it is not listed in the Mulwex manual of '86 is it was being produced as 2206 then.
