Yes sir, if everyone bought just what they can use, the situation would be taken care off,

Now the "two bitches" are coming up with new worthless but vote getting anti gun bills. Idaho is presenting a bill to give us the ability to veto any Federal bill or federal court decision that indicates a gov thats been overstepping itsself in regards to the constition of the United States, hell they been doing that for years...The liberals intend to void the constition of the US, let'em do it and states will drop out like flys on shit..Texas isn't a state its a republic, always has been from the beginning, they can walk at the drop of a hat..but whos to say what any state will do, they are in the care of vote minded politicians that go the way the wind blows the hardest..

Back in the 2013-2016 shortage it was 22lr (?) and powders. I never noticed then a primer shortage locally, but different this time around.

Last couple times at the local Sheels they did have primers in single packs in December and late January when I was in. I haven't been there since, but the purchase limit is 2, and I think that's a fair approach.

They had pistol ammunition as well, with the same limit... no gouging on prices, either. I don't visit enough to say how it is week to week.

Years ago I kept track of how much I shot by saving primer boxes, so I have a good idea of how much I shoot in a year and based purchasing on that.

With purchase limits, I did notice that customers at the Fleet Farm were stashing boxes of 22 and other ammo behind clothes, etc. for when they come back. Whatever I found accidentally I put back on the ammo shelves - play fair!

Wide coverage of social unrest, covid, and elections were a perfect storm. I'm hopeful by October or so a bit of the craziness will subside...

I wish I had 65,000 Eley match at $400 - 800/5000rounds.

Now the match stuff is all over $1500/5000rounds and the best is running $2800 - 3500 per 5000.

Out of 65000 rounds, how many will make the practice cut and out of those how many will make the match cut. weighing and sizing 22lr's is what gets you to your local 3p clubs title.

Portland gun show Sunday, one fellow had two tables of cased 556 and various pistol calibers, 9, 40, 45. In the hour and a half I was there you couldn't get near the table. However, I didn't see one case being carried or bought. Wish I would have gotten the price for kicks, but I couldn't be bothered. Even the new Yorkers weren't buying.

It is curious how the market changed here in July or August. Maybe the best predictor of election winners is the September availability of ammo and reloading components?

ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

North Dakota passed a similar bill to ignore federal BS. I love N.D. About the very most conservative state in the Union. Texas will turn bright blue in 12 years due to the last 40 years of of uncontrolled immigration and our anchor baby law. The U.S. will then completely dispense with the constitution and get inline with the U.N. agenda 2030.

I went the gun show in Minot N.D. this morning. I saw Primers at $300/1000. Just insane.

I bought a jug of same about 15 years ago, still have 4 or 5 lbs. I bought 100 lbs of N133 about the same time. Shot it up in about 15 years, so I bought 100 more. I’ve got a lifetime plus supply of all this stuff. Does that make me a hoarder, perhaps, but I’ve never paid more than $20 for a pound of powder, or 1000 primers, and I never have to. Perhaps when all this blows over, the people that are bitching now will wake up an buy, or come to the realization that they are not really shooters after all. The writing for all of this, has been on the wall for decades.

Yeah in reality, 1934, but more applicably 1968 + brother we have been going downhill from there. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, support the NRA, they are truly our last bastion of freedom to protect our 'GOD GIVEN' rights.

The question is:

Did you guys that "Saw" these prices.

Did you see any buyers paying that?

I've been watching the classifieds here for awhile.
Most of those items with gouging prices just sit there without even a response.
That's as it should be imo.

I didn’t stay long enough to find out. I found 9.3mm accubonds and left. However, if you have a look on gunbroker, you will see stuff selling for crazy money. I think these days folks at gun shows look on places like gunbroker as a reference to price their wares.

Now now, folks here on a different thread told me it was "Capitalism" and all was well!! Thats like a dog rolling over to get his tummy scratched, all is well! clap

This weekend gun show at twin falls, had a minimum of guns for sale and thetables were stacked high reminents of reloading stuff, a box of old bullets with 15 rounds left sold for $40. A cartons of primers for $175 and another for $150 and they all sold. The dealers must have felt guilty as they whined they had to pay $125 per carton, now thats BS..Its turned into a suckers game..ONe guy bought a carton of CCI match large rifle and was smart enough to check, and the carton has been tampered and some of the boxes had various primers in them, He quickly got a refund and the carton went back on the table...Its getting nasty out there..Walk lightly and carry a big stick..Store in town has some primers for $275 a cartoon, its getting out of control..

Agreed. I recently bought some powder at one of my favorite gun stores and was asked at the counter if I also needed primers. I didn't, as I'm fully-stocked. I asked the sales clerk why he brought it up. His response was something to the effect of, "most people think we're out of primers, but we have some. I saw you're buying powder and figured I would ask." It was a very courteous question that actually caught me off guard. I politely declined and said I had all I needed and I'd leave them for someone who actually needs them.

It is simply not the time to buy. Markets are not rational. When this passes I will buy a couple canisters of powder and a brick of primers and carry on. I don’t blame anyone who is selling components for high prices, no one is making you buy them.

It is turning into “look at all the stuff I have.” These same people are not shooting as much either, for “fear” of running out.

It is hoarding plain and simple. Nothing wrong with that, but that is all it is. This too shall pass.

This is a really astute saying and one with which I wholeheartedly agree. If someone wants to spend all their money to acquire a pile of stuff they couldn't possibly shoot in a lifetime, so be it. That's a foolhardy thing to do with your money. Every one of us knows how much we each shoot/reload and what a commensurate inventory level is.

The funniest part about these up and down swings are the people who can't be bothered to purchase when the prices are dirt cheap. To all of them complaining about asinine prices on stuff - what the heck were you doing in 2017-2019 when dealers pretty much couldn't GIVE this stuff away?

Buying all the stuff I might need for the next 3 or 4 years at very reasonable prices.

Midway is really starting to annoy me, Just bought a thousand Speer .355 115gr fmj projectiles at TnT for $77.00 and Midway is charging $189.00 for 500 factory second 115's. They've doubled prices on many items, whereas Graf, MidSouth and others have remained steady. I think I'll be sending my money elsewhere anymore unless necessary.

Also, Midway also has every order anyone has placed this century stored in the cloud. Makes it real easy for Un-Americans to get.

On the bright side, this is the best time to die. As one members tag line sez, I hope my wife doesn't sell my rifles for what I told her I paid. So in that spirit, when you have drums of powder and thousands of primers, SELL NOW! Make some money for yourself to get a new hobby. You know what you really need for the last 10 or so years you'll use them.

I think in 2004 they had printed somewhere that the average age of a gun collector was 73. It must be that some died off, because I've never seen so many Auto-5's sell for under $400 as I have in the last year.

So sell or start a reloading class for your local college. That's how we got fly tying taught to new fly fishers. Trout Unlimited could care less about attracting new members, there's no cash outlay to guilt your members on how they don't care about trout.

you can't run a factory any faster than 24-7 maximum speed.
so... how are they using more primers?

what's happening is guys are using web crawlers to get a notification within 15 seconds of primers going on sale at someplace like
mid-south or midway and then buying them.

I was on a site yesterday and seen some shot shell primers blip up I have been looking for.

I tried putting them in my shopping cart and they were all sold before I could push the button.
under one minute and the whole supply of them were gone.

That's disheartening.

I always wonder why people just can't learn from past experience. Every time the libs take the control in the last 30 years this happens. And the shooting public hasn't figured out to stock up in good times. Half the people complaining about the shortage voted for it. Enjoy it.

I really don't know if the court is going to pull the 2nd out of harms way,

Contractor friend told me this evening.

2x4 8' are $18.79 each,
and 3/4" CDX: $89 per.

No damn wonder houses cost so much these days.
