Forming brass is a simple fireforming process, just load a moderate load with a cheap bullet and do some practice shooting! No commercial 280imp brass is available so you'll have to fireform your own, which is better anyway. Fits YOUR chamber perfectly. My 280imp would typically run about 150fps more than a std. 280, out of a 24" barrel. Good caliber but not worth the trouble, IMO.

I have a 280 AI. With a 24" barrel, I get 3175 fps (actual) with a 140 grain Barnes XLCBT bullet. I think it is a great cartridge. I get my brass from Quality Cartridge. They require that you send them a fired cartridge, and they will match the brass to your rifle's chamber. I tried fireforming using blank loads, but it turned out to be a pain in the A$$. The brass turns out OK, but it takes quite a bit of time.

Once you shoot the 280AI you will know why it is one of the best Ackley's. More accurate, longer brass life. I get 185fps over stock 280. And it gets better with the heavier bullets. With 140 grn bullets it is a 7mag without the belt and less kick.
