Any load data yet for the 375 Ruger?

I am having a rifle rebarreled to the new 375 Ruger caliber. I would like to know if anyone has worked up any load data for the 375 Ruger.

I don't want to reinvent the wheel (or redo the research and development).

Thanks in advance,

SD Shooter

Normally Hornady supplies loading data when they sell dies for ammo that is new and has no reloading data.....did you get your dies from Hornady?

My apologies for not responding sooner.

My 375 Ruger dies came today from Hornady. But there was no load data with them. I have also Emailed Hornady Customer Service but have gotten no response. I guess I will give them a call on the phone and see if I can do any better.

I did find some very limited information on the Nosler website that was very specific to their bullets. I already have some Nosler 225 & 250 gr. that I bought for the 375 H&H, so I can at least start with those.

If you have any suggestions I am anxious to know.

Thanks

It's disappointing that Hornady supplied no data with the dies.....

However as long as the .375 Ruger is a larger case than either the .375 H&H and the .375 Taylor then either of these two cases can be used as starting points and work up.
I'd start about 8% under mas listed and work up from there.

I've had a 375 wildcat for a few years, based on the 9.3X64 Brenneke.

The internal dimensions of the case are almost identical to the 338 Win Mag, so slightly less than the new 375 Ruger cartridge.

Here are my loads for the Nosler and Hornady 300 grain bullets:
68 grains RL 15, Win. large rifle primer
2,450 fps Hornady
2,470 fps Nosler Partition

I started at 60 grains of RL 15 and worked up slowly to maximum.
66 grains, 67 grains, and 68 grains of RL 15 all gave very close velocities.

When I hit 69.4 grains, pressure changed dramatically, velocities with the Nosler jumped to 2611 fps, and bolt lift became hard, with flattened primers.

68 grains RL 15 remains my hunting load.

Hey Guys,

An Email response came last night from Hornady. It had extensive load development data for the 225 SP, 270 SP and the 300 FMJ RN. I compared the information with data for th 375 H&H in several reloading manuals and found the 375 Ruger to run slightly less on powder charges across the board.

If anyone needs this data let me know and I will be glad to forward.

And thanks for all of the input on your posts.

The Hornady info looks good. I guess it should, they developed the case with Ruger.

I'm supposed to pick up my rifle next Monday, maybe today, so I'm ready to load a few slugs.

Anyone know what the trimmed length should be?

Should I use magnum primers?

Thanks,

Grizzly

The file came as an Adobe pdf. It won't let me copy it or insert. I will need to copy it over before I can post it. Will try to get to that tonight.

I also emailed Hornady without word yet on the load data. My set of Hornady dies was also without load data.

Thanks to you folks and all the links posted. I think I'm ready to start AND my new rifle is due today - I'll pick up after work.

The case length is 2.494" so the trim length is probably 2.484" using the old formula of shortening by 1/100". Right?

Check out the latest issue of Shooting Times magazine. I'm pretty sure there's some RL info on the .375 Ruger.

If you mean the .375 Ruger:

Max brass length is 2.580"
Trim to: 2.570"
You got the minus .010" part right, of course.

The "specified" max COL is 3.340".

Thanks RIP. I must have read the diagram wrong and big time too.

Guys,

The dies have arrived, the reamer is on its way, a new Barrel is being sourced (most probably an S&L).

Now all I need is the Load data,

Has anybody load data with Vithavouri or Norma powders ?

Vapodog,

Good info. Is it from a reliable source?

Finally got to try out my new rifle. It works fine but the reduced loads I used to break it in weren't very accurate. If I find a good, accurate load, I'll post it.

Thanks,

Grizzly
