Has anyone used the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw? I am loading some for my .270 Win. Are they an accurate round? I have hear great things about the Swift A-Frame being very accurate, but what is your experience with the TBBC?

I have used them in 22, 7mm, and 30 cal. The 55g 22 shot very well in my 222 Rem and 220 Swift. The 180g 30 cal shot very well in a 30-06. My #1 in 7 x 57 did NOT like the 140g. NOTE--these were all b/4 Federal acquired the rights to make them. In other words, Jack Carter's original TBBC.
I can tell you after shooting deer, hogs and Nilgai that the terminal performance is fantastic!
One of the major suppliers had a sale last year on Federal 270 Win loaded w/ TBBC. I bought 5 boxes---if nothing else--just for the slugs.

I did not have any luck with them as far as accuracy goes,in my 270.I had better luck with Sierra boatails, ballistic tips, and failsafes. They might shoot well out of a new quality barrel.

180gr. shot great in my 30/06 Encore pistol. 160gr. shot terrible in my 7mm Weatherby Accumark. Great round in terms of terminal performance if accuracy is sufficient out of your gun.

I have used the 140 grain TBBC in a 270 Ackley in Africa, worked great, both from the accuracy and performance on animals.

They are my favorite bullet. I shoot them in 416 Rigby and 375 H&H and have had client hunters shoot them in almost every other calibre. The best bullet on the market today though I must admit there are some other bullets out there that perform almost as well. I believe they are much much better than Barnes X. They are not the most accurate bullet but they are accurate enough and will generally shoot through whatever you shoot.

LivestoHunt..

My wife's rem 700 270 loves the 140 gr TBBC...she dropped a cow elk this fall with a neck shot...the animal went down like it had been hit be lightning. DOA.

Midway had a sale last Fall...Federal Premium w/ 140 TBBC for 15$ a box. I bought 5 boxes.

Hope they do that sale again.

Cheers
