I hate to buy a new manual for a single load!! My manuals are all quite old.
Does anyone have load date for a 264 Win Mag using RL22. I'm planning on loading
a 160 grain sierra prohunter SMP bullet.
Thanks for any help.

My old Alliant guide shows the same 57 grain load for the Hornady 160 with the same 2780 fps, so that is what I would consider max.

I was rolling up some 264 loads this weekend.

RL25, RL33 and Retumbo are where you'll find speed. But finding powder has been like finding hens teeth these days. If 22 is all you have, then so be it.

That is a slightly different bullet design being a round nose where the sierra is a semi round nose
I'm not sure the bullet seating depth would be the same resulting in a difference in chamber pressure
My old Sierra manual is from 1971 and doesn't even have the 160 grain bullet listed! I can always
Start below 57grains and work up. Thanks for the help guys.

The difference in nose design alone should not make a difference, but check to see if there is a cannelure and if the diameter of the bullet is different in front of it as opposed to behind it. I don't know if Hornady did that, but I know Remington did it on theirs since the throat on the spec 264 has NO leade, just straight into the rifling from the neck. The dual diameter bullet allowed seating the bullet out without jamming into the lands.

Unless you have a custom specified throat, the OAL will be short anyway without the dual diameter bullet. Something like 3.29". I have never reached the 3.34" listed with any bullet without jamming into the lands.

Thanks everyone
I went with the Hornady loads for now backing off the max load for starters.
