I would like to come up with a load for a 1894 winchester that has a 4 grove 16" 1-10 twist barrel in 30-30. I think it is a turned down M1903 barrel, but I am not sure. I was thinking that with the slower twist as compared to the standard 1894 30-30 twist of 1-12, a heavier bullet might be better? I would like to use it for a lever action sillouette match which I beleive goes out 150 yards. Any thoughts or opinions? Thank you! | ||

Someone is telling me that a 1/10 twist in a 94 .30-30 Winchester RIFLE is not an oddball. Allegedly the one he sold me has the same barrel except that it is 20" long. I am not a very good shooter with open sights, but--using R-P brass, FC primers,Sierra 125 gr SN bullets and H322 or other similar powders, I can hit the 200 yard gong mnore often than not, shooting not off hand but seated at a bench with no sand bags--a fact that surprised the H out of me.................
