I have some boxes of .300 Weatherbys loadsed with 180grain "spire points" what would these bullets most likely be?
They have what look to be 2 smooth crimp cannalures.
I have some Reminton loads too, I understand they use Core-Lokt bullets?

They are Hornady Interlocks. They are good bullets, just watch shot placement at velocities higher than 2800 fps. Jorge

They're probably about equal. Just don't try to bust a lot of bone with either of them and you should be OK. The Weatherby ammo with the Interlocks will be faster then the Remington ammo with the Core-Lokts. That will probably make more of a differance in the two bullets performance then any real difference in the bullets. shoot them both and go with the most accurate. - Dan

HAve to go with Dan on this one,although an argument can be made for the Hornady being a bit tougher. Take a good look at ballistic tables so you can get a ballpark figure where the 2800 fps/velocity curve/range lies, then make your choice based on which one shoots the best. jorge

Iam a mexican hunter and I had realy good experience with 180 gr. Interlock factory 300 Wby ammo, I had used these on 2-desert sheep, 5-mule deer, 3-couse deer and 7-audad, from all these animals only I recover one bullet from a realy big mule deer, the bullet enter on the chest and i recover uner the skin near the tail.

Realy I feel good using thes load, on my rifles Blaser R84 - 24" barrel it gets 3120 fps., on my Remington Custom M700 is gets 3200 fps. with these load I never loss and animal.

AYA: At what range did you shoot the Mule deer and how much did the bullet weigh after you recovered it? I shot an imapala at 80 yards and was surprised to fing the bullet still in the animal. It weighed just under 80 grains. My thoughts are that had that been a bigger animal, the bullet could have failed. jorge
