...on the stem of a seating die that was in your press? How bad was the cut? Or is it just me? Maybe I'm too clumsy or too large for my loading bench! BTW, ever got powder in your eye?!?!?!

I do believe that you should wear eye protection when reloading, and maybe elbow pads.

Perhaps a full suit of armor would help?

Yep, been there did that. Hurts like hell. Though I have never had powder in my eye. Probably because I wear glasses.

...now that you mension it.....No, fingers are too big to get in there. Have pinched a finger setting up a die, nothing serious though. I really think that more of you hurt yourselves and are ashamed to admit it.....Come on guys fess up! Don't tell me that no one has ever dropped their deburring tool, bent over to pick it up and smashed your head on the edge of your bench or the bottom of your press? Wish we had a webcam set up to watch some of you...would probably be hilarious!

btw... let's don't turn this into an Eric bashing post....I KNOW I'm not the only one.

I've got a small bench, so I unbolt me Rock Chucker and put it away sometimes. carrying that press is dangerous. When gravity gets ahold of the handle, the press starts operating, and it doesn't care where your thumb is.

Maybe thimbles would be a good idea.

Yes to the elbow on the seating die stem.....I thought I was the only one with that problem! I had some nylon sleeves/rollers from a unknown/unremembered source that has a hole thru them the size of the stem and I slipped these over the stem and this made a softer? or at least less sharp and pointed top to the seater and saved a few drops of blood and verbal descriptive tirades when reaching to the back of the bench for more whatever....good luck and good shooting with less blood loss and pain!!!!

Re Scraping the die with your arm---You MUST use a RCBS die with the screwdriver top to it--AND you must make sure you've "goobered" up where the screw driver goes so it's nice and sharp.

Where the hell did that scar go?? I guess it healed up!!

Also--the wife thinks you should be watching some dumb dating show with her and when you show up with your bleeding elbow she thinks it's great!!

I have did the arm scraping, head banging, but no powder in the eye. I did bust off a short shot bottle off a mec press, I still have some number 7 1/2 in the floor. Kinda comes in handy, when I have a new set of dies that needs some shot in the set screw, just go to the floor and can usually find it. As to the head banging, and arm scraping, I keep telling myself I wouldn't do it near as much, if I had a sit down table.

Yup I've bumped my elbow (RCBS dies) and pinched my finger. The pinched finger came from those tiny little .22 cal bullets. Sure have slowed down since then. I find that really helps alot.

I've done it often enough that I put a short length of surgical tubing over the screw with about 1/2" protruding above the top of the screw. Still hurts if you hit your funny bone but doesn't draw blood any more. You can still get a thin shanked screw driver inside it to adjust.

Best of the season to you all.
