Try working up some loads with 125 grain bullets. Also, if I'm not mistaken, 155 grain bullets like the Sierra Palma MatchKing should shoot well with your rifle. In my .308, I have used Varget, BLC(2), and IMR 4895 with great success. My latest accuracy load, surprisingly enough, is the 150 gr. FMJBT with 42.0 of IMR 4895, and Federal Match primers. Half-inch groups average, at 100 yards with my M1A. ------------------

Is that Kimbolton next to Grafham? I don't have an answer to your question but coincidentally am just about to start loading the same calibre. Where are you intending to do your target shooting? Oh yes - welcome!

That's a VERY slow twist rate for a .308 Win. As mentioned, you'll need to shoot the lighter bullets like the 125 and 155 MKs. It probably won't shoot the heavy bullets very well but who knows...if you don't try you'll never know for certain! In the heavy weights though don't bother using anything less than a good match bullet.

Thanks to all that responded. I'm going to try some different loads with 125s and 155s. I'll let you know what happens. Someone asked where I lived: I live in Kimbolton OH, and I usually shoot in my back yard. I live in a small farming comunity. Thanks again.

With a twist of 1:14 in .308 Win., I'd try the Sierra 150 gr. Match Kings (#2190) first. The Palmas (155 gr. #2155) are designed for longer range Palma Competition. The 150 gr. MKs can generally be expected to give better accuracy from 100-400 yds. The Palma Bullet was designed to keep supersonic velocities way out there. For the "beanfields ranges" of Ohio I think the 150MKs will work better than the Palmas. You might also try some of the flat based 150's like the Pro Hunter #2130.

150s with 43 of 4895. 168s with 40-41 of 4895. If a 308 won't shoot hese loads there is something wrong with the rifle! Regards, Bill.

Also have the .308 with 1 in 12" twist 26" heavy barrel. The rifle will post very good groups with REL-15, BLC#2, W-748. Bullet weights I have used are 125 gr, 150 gr, 168 gr, Best five shot group with the 168gr. bullet measures .062, and with 125gr bullet .092.
