Just bought a rifle in this calibre, and I am looking for suggested powders/ loads to start the process. I am looking at using the 160 Accubond, or 154 Interbond? Thanks

Not what you are asking for but a friend of mine wants me to reload his. I thought I remembered seeing some good prices at Midway. I did a search and found they had federal premium with trophy bonded bear claw bullets on sale for about $16/box. We ordered 3 boxes at that price and if they shoot I will be off the relaoding hook for a long time as this guy will stock up at that price. HECK....if you were to go buy just the bullets you'd have $20 in just 20 projectiles. It's a hell of a way to make life easy. Also a good way to get some brass and be able to chrono some factory rounds for comparision.

Have a look at this site, should be reloading info there for the 7mm WSM http://www.netrifle.com/forum1/default.asp Should be a great cartridge with 7mm rem mag performance, cant understand why it isn't more popular.

Here is a blurb from the site above explaining the new site. "As of July 25, 2006 the ShortMags.Org site has been integrated into our parent site netRifle.Com. The ShortMags.Org forum has merged with our Classic-Cartridges.Com forum. The old forum is still on-line for reference but new posts belong at the newly-merged forum. Memberships in the ShortMags.Org forum were transferred to the new consolidated forum as well as much of the old forum's content so it's business as usual in the new forum location." First my comment on the old Short Mags forum. It was run by a person who would not allow any discussion that was critical. I am still a member, I think, but I banned myself after others were banned for just pointing out obvious and interesting topics. I may look at the new site again. As to the popularity of the 7mm WSM it's Winchester that screwed it up. They introduced all three at the same time ie, the 270 WSM, 7mm WSM and 300 WSM. But they forgot that just like the 270 Win vrs the 280 Remington that a 7mm-300WSM could be chambered and fired in a 270 WSM! So they had to redesign the 7mm WSM and move its shoulder forward. Thus the delay in the actual offering of the 7mm and it's late start that is proving to be fatal. There may be some 7mm WSM data at the reloadersnest.com For 140's in the 7mm WSM just get some RL 22, mag primers and bullets and work up a load with your chronograph. About 3200 fps is possible from a 24" barrel. Specific "pet loads" like Ken Waters made money on are really misleading and of little value. Each rifle is an individual and will require it's own work up. Not to say that some powders and bullets don't work better in general. Join the NRA

I agree with Savage99 My 7 WSM likes 140gr Accubonds and Reloader 22. Somewhere around 3300 fps and 1/2 inch groups with a 24 inch barrel. Still haven't gotten to kill a deer with it yet, though.

Max loads with 154gn are 71gns Retumbo for 3040 FPS , 68.5 gns H 1000 for 2975 , 62.5 gns H4831SC for 2945 . For 160 gn projectiles drop 1gn of Retumbo from above . Others should be similar to 154gn . Work up from 4 or 5 gns lower in 1/2gn increments . Above from Nick Harvey's Practical Reloading Manual 6th edition . My rifle likes the 140gn Accubond and Nosler BT with 66.5gns H4831SC (slightly better accuracy than Reloder 22) . Apparently maximum but mild in my rifle and gives about 3150FPS . The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.
