I recently started using the new win LR primers after using the original stainless appearing ones for the last twenty years. I noticed that as I used my Lee hand priming tool that many of the primer pockets felt loose and they were mild loads. After measuring the new Win primers with my Mitutoyo calipers, they were barely 210 in diameter. I checked some other primers in Win,Federal,and CCI and they all measured the same at about 1/2 thou over or 210.5. No wonder the Winchesters felt loose going in! When priming with the other primers, the pockets felt normal. Not at all happy with this and I won't be buying any more! Anyone else notice this?

No problem for me. Can you really measure that close with calipers?

Yes, WW brass-colored primers fit infamously loose even in new primer pockets. Apparently, the thickness of the nickel plating on previous WW primers is the difference. Despite their perceived looseness, I've found that so long as they don't actually fall out of the pocket that they are safe and effective.

I bought a relatively large stock of WW WLR primers before discovering this issue. I generally reserve them for the first or second loading of a brass lot.

The primer will expand to fill the pocket as pressure builds. I have not seen one "leak" as of yet.

i shot thousands of the nickle primers. and i have how shot alot of the brass color primers. so far i have no problems

Hereunder the cup dimensions of primers. It differs from time to time. I have some old Winchester LR primers which measure 0.2115". I use them when primer pockets become too loose. You could also try to switch to Fed210.
