After seating the bullet what are you guys using to wipe the lube from the cases? Or, do you do it in a previous step? Is there something that can be used to prevent tarnishing of the brass & bullet? And last but not least, can you put loaded rounds in the tumbler? If so, will it deform the lead tips on Partitions?

I clean my cases free of lube before primer seating, powder charge and bullet seating. Just wipe them with a clean cloth or good paper towel thinner can be used to speed up the cleaning or just dry wipe.

Yes live rounds can be vibratory cleaned and this makes lead pointed bulles look brand new and does'nt deform them the process seems to re-form them to factory like new condition.

Tarnish is another story...I cant help you there.

Thanks Ted. In the past when I tumbled after resizing I ended up having to pick corn cob media out of the primer pockets...that was a painful experience. MAybe I should be using a different media.

Some like to tumble to remove the lube I myself have done this and dont like picking out the flash holes either. I also dont like taking a newly sized and de-burred case and putting it into the tumbler to beat it's mouth up against all the other cases it may not hurt anything but to me tumbleing to remove lube may not be the best way but it is the easiest way IMO.

Just rinse sized case in isopropyl alcohol.
Place in front of a fan with them setting vertically in a loading block. They will dry in about 35 or 40 mins.

No media in the flash holes, no abrasive dust inside and outside the case, no waiting on a tumbler, no lube inside or outside on the case, protective layer to delay tarnish

prepped case on left, new case on right

gave my tumbler away to a young beginning reloader.

Absolutely nothing....

I tumble them prior to resizing....then lube them and resize and then wash in gasoline and blow dry and then finally charge with powder, prime, and seat bullets. After seating they are fully clean of dirt and lube.

methylated spirits, wood alcohol, denatured alchol, rubbing alcohol or whatever you call it in your part of the world works really well. It will clean up water based & oil based lubes & air dries quickly without residue to all intents & purposes. The stuff we get here has a nasty purple colour added to it. Its what methos drink when they graduate from being winos. Frowner

A few minutes in the tumbler after loading is all it takes to remove residual lube. I use corn cob loaded with car polish (Nu Finish, Cabelas, Dillon etc) to clean and leave a protective polymer coating that helps prevent tarnishing. I have a separate lot of media just for this job. Don't use the same media for your primary cleaning.

I tumble to clean and polish cases before lubing and sizing. Then I size using Hornady one lube or Emperial Sizing Wax.....

I size things and then trim with the Lee trim dies, chucked into a drill.

As the final step after trimming and camphering the case neck I polish the lube off the case with a rag. This system takes the lube off the cases, clears out the primer flash hole if needed, and makes inspecting each case an easy byproduct of the process.

I found that attempting to tumble to remove case lube after sizing resulted in lube sticking grit and dust to my cases.....which may have been due to operator error...

Just my .02

Cheers,

Dan

I simply use the best , then wipe with a clean dry cotton cloth . Leaves an ultra thin wax like coating

for inhibiting tarnish .
