Things have gone to pot there at Midway on alot of things, thats why I've went to other places like www.midsouthshooterssupply.com , www.dnrsports.com ++they had a thompson scope for $89.00 and midway was $105.00. www.natchezss.com and even www.cabelas.com had cheaper shipping on a certain Item, and did not have to pay the additional $3.00 for under the amount of $25.00 that midway charge's for a special handling charge and was also cheaper there. Even www.lockstock.com is getting the same way as midway to expensive for me.

Larry and I had quite an exchange of emails from that change... If one did not have to pay shipping, midway USUALLY won the price war over a place that dud... now, unless it's a great deal, i can usually get it elsewhere ...

further, the "small order fee" is horse hockey.... when I need an 8 dollar part, and midway sells it for 8, why, oh why, should LARRY be able to charge 4 bucks for it being a small order when gas/food/clothes don't cost a cent more if I buy them 1 at a time or 300$ at a time?

there's a HUGE computer networking gear maker, that has a negative reputation of "being unable to market anything under $10,000."... and, since I don't set the price on anything, I think texan ought to band together, sue potterfiend (who held a DONATED TO THE NRA 200,000$ "hostage" in the brownells lawsuit) for price gouging... i think we'ld find a texas sheister that could make it stick.

larry can keep his stuff... i have to force myself to order from them, and ONLY when the price is ridiculously low, AND I need a couple things

Fair (enough to leave larry a profit) and honest (if you forget the packaging, handling and general profit) from larry hiding cost of product in S/H

I'm gonna call 'em on this one. In the case I mentioned in my earlier post their "fair and honest shipping charges" come out to almost 2 1/2 times the actual UPS shipping charges. That's bullshit. I'll post their responce if and when I get one.

My goodness, and I bet the lot of you wonder why all of your local stores have such high prices and are going out of business.
Frankly, Midway as a whole, as well as the rest of the mail-order houses can all go to hell.
And for those of you who buy from them, the next time you need a 10 cent part, or some expert advice from your local store, and you find that they are out of business, you will have no need to wonder why.

As a Business owner that has to do UPS shipping, they are getting expensive in their shipping costs.

It also cost money to run and business and be competitive.

That said, I still preferred when Midway did not charge for shipping. Having to do so, I envision as more along the lines of poor internal management. Like Cabela's, once your sales volume gets over a $100.00 the extra cost for shipping is not much at all. So I order accordingly.

I just think Midways needs to run their business more efficiently... when they started getting more competition they were getting eaten alive because of internal in efficient overhead. Charging for shipping and Minimum order charges I am okay with. I will just shop a lot of other places first. Midway is the last one I will check, for the total order price.

Cabela's and Natchez were my two favorite followed by Grafs and Sons. Just pays to shop around.,,, even more nowadays.

cheers and good shooting

I rec'd a stock from them a while back. Just checked the invoice and found I was charged $9.77 for a six pound pkg plus a $4.00 special handling charge. That's $13.77 total. I just calculated the cost to return the same pkg @www.ups.com website to be $5.86. I think we're getting screwed.
