I have had them in .308 and .224 for quite a while and they work fine but really don't eliminate the need to lube inside the neck.

I switch the .30 cal one around in my RCBS dies from caliber to caliber.

Somehow I can't recall what problem they are supposed to solve!

DESIGNED TO FIT RCBS DIES Increase ease and convenience of your
RCBS size die by replacing your present spindle assembly with our Carbide
Expander Spindle Assembly. The carbide expander ball provides chatter-free
neck expanding, while reducing the need for inside-neck lubrication. Also includes
hardened steel elliptical expander, the same found on our New Dimension dies,
which reduces neck stretching and leaves inside of neck extra smooth.
This if from Hornady , I have jest got them in and hope they work on the 22-250
as the neck strech alot
lubing the inside of the necks is a pain, then if you get too much the power sticks
to the inside of the neck
Thanks

I use a modified Redding carbide expander on my RCBS .270 neck die. The carbide sizer ball is made to fit Redding dies, but if you grind a little off the decapping pin retainer cap it will hold the pin in RCBS dies and the expander can actually float on the spindle. It works great and self aligns with the case mouth for concentric expanding. It does totally eliminate the need for inside neck lubrication, IF you carefully clean the inside of the case neck. The powder fouling is the real problem. It must be cleaned out of the neck, or chattering will result. I clean the case necks by clamping a bronze bore brush in .270 caliber in a vice and brush the cases a couple of passes just before sizing, and it works great.
Good luck.
