I need a lite load for the 41 mag. Using 215 gr. lead swc at a velocity of around 800fps

Lost your reloading manual, huh?

Lymans Cast Bullet #3 says:
14.2 grains 2400 at 835 fps. This is the starting load at 19,600 CUP and 1.575" (#410610)

Try Titegroup or W231, lot less powder for that velocity and a lot less unburned powder. Hogdon's site should have the data.

Tightgroup at 4.5 grains is Hodgdon's starting load. Gives 897 fps with a 200 grain cast bullet in a pressure barrel. Should be a bit slower in a revolver.
4.0 grains of Clays gives 854 fps.

5 gr of Bullseye under a 210 gr cast bullet works for me at 830 fps (7 1/2" Ruger Bisley).

I'll vote for the Hodgdon TiteGroup starting load. It is by far the least position sensitive (by my chronograph) powder I have ever used in my Ruger 41 mag. It meters well in the powder measure and 1 lb. seems to last forever.

The easiest way is get some Trail Boss powder. Impossible to overload, accurate and mild. Starting load is fill the case to the bottom of the bullet and weigh the charge for reference. Work up or down .2 grain till you get the sweet spot.

Or, 4.5 gr gives 725 and 6.5 gives a little over 970.

The May 2011 issue of Shooting Times Magazine has loads for a "41 Special".

I used to load 8 grains of Unique with a 220 grain cast bullet for a do everything load. I think these were closer to 1000 fps, but it's been about 30 years since I shot them over a chronograph.

Unique is the powder for cast bullets in any revolver, 45 auto as well. The 8 grain load mentioned by jstevens, ought to be about right.
