The following are my best .338 lapua loads as used my me, my son and grandson for Elk. 250 grain Barnes X with 98 grains of H-1000 and Fed 215M primer. Very accurate with several one hole groups (three shots touching each other). I still am amazed at the accuracy of this original Barnes X bullet, I have been unable to get that kind of accuracy from any other Barns X. Speed of this load averages 3100 fps. My son shoot the 225 grain Northfork bullet exclusively with 91 grains of RL-22 and Fed 215M primer and has taken several Elk including a monster Ky 6X6 with it. This load chronys 3125 fps and is also very accurate with one holers when the shooter does his part. My grandson beleaves in the 240 grain Northfork with 98 grains of H-1000 and Fed 215M primer because it gave him his first Elk, this loads chronys at 3155 fps and is also extremely accurate. ----- The .338 Lapua we shoot is a Sako 995 with a 4.5X14 Ziess Conquest that serves it well. Hope this info helps. Good shooting.

G'Day Fella's,

Skidly, I'm the same as Phurley5!
98grns of ADI AR-2217(H-1000) powder under a Hornady 250grn Spire Pt bullet at just over 3000fps.
I use Lapua .338 Lap Mag cases, CCI 250Mag primers, and the above bullet seated to 0.020" off the lands. Even I can shoot the occasional 5 shot 3/4" groups at 100meters! Just remember, I'm no BR shooter!!!
I'm currently trying to get some 250grn Sierra and or Hornady target bullets to try! I can only imagine they may group smaller than the above hunting bullets?

This is out of my Rem 700 MLR rifles 26" barrel.
The only thing I have done to the rifle, is lapped the bolt locking lugs and lightened the trigger to 2 1/2 pounds! WOW!!!

Hope that helps

Doh!

Homer,

Just a query--where did you find the load data.
My Lyman book gives me a max of 96.1 gr H-1000 for the Sierra 225 gr.

do you get stiff bolt lift or flattened primers or any other signs of overpressure?

Out of my AR-30 I am pushing 2850 with 96 gr and a lighter bullet.
