I've seen several posts on favorite loads for the various .338 mags. It seems the 210gr NP gets frowned upon by most, in favor of the 250gr, as not having enough SD.
Many a .270 fan hunts w/ the 140gr (SD.261) @ 2900fps * you can easily get the 210gr NP (SD.261) to go 2900fps from most of the .338 mags. I run my .338-06 to 2750fps w/ the same bullet. Seems like a .270 on steroids: 50% more bullet weight
25% greater frontal area (incase it doesn't expand)
same trajectory out to 350yds
more momentum & energy @ any range
This is all done w/ less recoil than shooting the big 25ogr (which I would choose for bigger game in cover, up close).

Fred,

The 210 grain .338" Nosler Partition is a great deer bullet in a .338 Winchester.

For game larger than deer I personally would load a 240+ grain bullet, which has a sectional density of .300+.

Good Hunting !

Anyone who says the 210 Nosler lacks anything is simply running their head. If ever there was a wonder bullet it is the 210 Nosler in the 338 Win.and it will penitrate most any animal at any distance through and through, and in fact it apparantly penitrates as well as the 250 Nosler as far as I can tell...I have used these two bullets a great deal, probablyu shot a couple of hundred large animals with it and thats been my conclusion..I would not hesitate to shoot Lion with the 210 Nosler in the 338 as I have seen it perform miracles on game such as breaking the shoulder and full penitration on Eland and on one ocassion, breaking the shoulder on a buffalo and a rare instant kill, complete penitration on an elk at 600 plus yards, complete penitration (3 shots ) on a wildebeest at 800 yds and Lenthwise penitration on a Kudu, exiting the upper neck, at 75 yds...It never ceases to amaze me, like I said it is truly a wonder bullet that defies all paper balistics...I will ocassionally blow off the front section but when it does it actually seems to kill better than when it doesn"t, no surprise here.

I still use the 250 Nosler and 300 Woodliegh, the new Northforks, but not because the 210 isn't capable of doing as well as any of them, because it does just as well...I just got bored with using it..and moved on to other bullets to play with.

Trust me on this one, use it and find out for yourself, you got my word.

I shot my first moose with a 210 gr partition in .338 win mag. The first shot was broadside through the lungs. It broke two ribs going in and two ribs on the way out. The first lung had a softball sized hole and the second had a two inch hole. The entrance and exit holes looked the same ,about half inch holes.
The second shot was quartering away through the hind leg. The bullet broke the femur but did not exit the leg.
Both shots were about 80 yrds.
