I'm getting tired of using q-tips to clean the lube out of case necks. Any favorite dry lube that's quick and clean? I'm neck sizing. Thanks, flaco

Lee collet dies don't need any neck lube and if available for your caliber may be a good option. Recently, I've been using Hornady's case lube on a Q-tip with good results. I like Hornady's lube better than the mess I manage with the powered mica, plus I didn't like the idea of breathing in the mica dust. Woody

The graphite looking stuff sold by Redding by the same makers of Imperial sizing die wax. It's dry powder, you use only a trace, and even if some is left in the case it won't contaminate the powder charge.

I use a wool bore mop, just push it in & pull it out. It only takes about 1/2min. to do 20 cases. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Fred, what lube are you using with the wool bore mop, liquid or powder? I like the wool mop idea. It would last a lot longer than the Q-tips. Woody

I use Lyman spray lube....some don't care for it but I like it and when I lube my cases I intentionally see to it that some amount is sprwyed into the case neck IDs.....it makes resizing easy and I've never had to clean the lube from the insides. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I use mica for neck sizing. It is available from Midway. Dip the neck & size - done. Of course no lube is required if you use bushing dies w/carbide bushing.

I use a small resealabe container filled with #9 lead shot and mica mixed in. Dip the neck in the mixture and it leaves a light trace inside and out.

I have been using Hornady One Shot spray lube for years now. I haven't found anything better, quicker or easier for rifle cases. Also, spraying a little into my resizing dies really flushes dirt out quite nicely. I never tried the Lyman spray lube. ______________________________ Well, they really aren't debates... more like horse and pony shows... without the pony... just the whores. 1955, Top tax rate, 92%... unemployment, 4%. I used an undersized nylon bore brush with a damp heavy duty paper shop towel. Can plunge out 20 cases in about 3-4 minutes. I use rcbs case lube for full resizing cause I like how quick it cleans up. Here's a crazy idea that works for me. When I am working with new cases I take an "armor all" car wipe and plunge it into the case neck and it leaves behind a super thin film that works great with my hornady dies so I can run the expander into the mouth and true it up. I don't bother wiping those out--it doesn't seem to contaminate powder and bullets slide in just a bit easier.

Thanks, gentlemen- I ended up ordering the Imperial graphite. It had good user response on Midway--where it's currently on sale--and everyone who uses the Imperial Sizing Wax raves about it. onefunzr2- How do you apply it? Do I need a brush or something? Thanks again, flaco

I use mica inside the necks. The wool mop just cleans it right out. Spray the mop once & awhile w/ degreaser to clean. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

With the Imperial Graphite lube I just dip the necks into the container itself to get a coating inside. Of course I accidently scooped some of the graphite up with one of the cases and then poured it onto the bench while not paying attention. I now regret not staining the top, that graphite really gets into the pours of the wood.

I only neck size and use the powdered graphite that comes with the Forster container. You have 3 different sized brushes to clean the grit out of the neck and the bottom of the container is lined with graphite to ease the resizing operation. It works very well. Best wishes. onefunzr2- How do you apply it? Do I need a brush or something? But of course! Add this to your Midway order. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=197010

I use Hornady One Shot lube, and then tumble all the cases when I am done. Cleans them out pretty well.

I don't the ingrediants, but it drys to an almost undetectable, dry lubricant that really works. ______________________________ Well, they really aren't debates... more like horse and pony shows... without the pony... just the whores. 1955, Top tax rate, 92%... unemployment, 4%. I've used the Imperial dry neck lube and find it works very well. My preference has become Redding type S neck dies with titanium nitride bushings and no lube is necessary.

Tumble/clean your brass thoroughly with good quality media and you won't need lube if your just neck sizing!! I don't use any case lube when I neck size and the neck's size nice and easy!! If the inside of the neck still has a dark residue and the expander ball is sticking when your pulling it out you need to clean your brass longer!
