I have been considering picking up a Winchester
1885 Traditional Hunter in 38-55. Starline has
the brass. Which brings up bullets. I DO NOT
want to use cast bullets. The groove dia. on this barrel is 0.376" from what I can discover.

What jacketed bullets can you recommend that
would give fine accuracy in this rifle ?

thanks kindly, Chris

i shoot a fair amount of 38-55. mine is a crazy horse commerative model 94 winchester. bore slugs out to 0.378. if you don't like cast bullets, you might want to check into getting one of those bullet swaging machines from corbin and making your own jacketed bullets. i don't know if barnes still makes the two different sized bullets for 38-55. you might want to check there. mine shoots best with AA2495 powder.

The Barnes Original .377" diameter, 255 grain bullet is very accurate in my C.Sharps 1885 (.376" groove dia.).
