NEW FEATURE! -- JUST ADDED!

Now you can generate visual comparison screens of up to8 cartridges! Just like in magazine articles, you can "stack up" any of the 250+ rounds in the AmmoGuide database, all drawn to scale to an on-screen resolution of .01 inches. An example of .30 caliber rounds...

You can log right into the AmmoGuide Interactive Visual Comparison Tool with the "demo" account. Just click here...

http://ammoguide.com/cgi-bin/aicompare.cgi

...and login with username=demo and password=demodemo

Enjoy!

I'm very impressed with this website! One of the best I've seen, actually.

Many are probably familiar with my free AmmoGuide program now almost a decade online.

Please check out my new project (using the demo account described below)...

AmmoGuide Interactive is the reloading website I've always wanted and I hope you like it too. Like AmmoGuide, it is strongly community-oriented. Unlike AmmoGuide, I'm asking a very small price for a year's subscription (less than a box of factory ammo). There's a good reason (besides getting AmmoGuide.com paying for itself). It's to keep out those who aren't serious about reloading, since every subscriber can add their reloading data to the database without admin intervention.

I believe the site has other important features for the reloader that are unavailable anywhere else, and will only expand in capability in the future (with the support of the reloading community, of course).

There is a demo account available, just click on the above graphic and login as:
Username: demo
Password: demodemo

Thanks,

Mike Haas

PS. Neither program uses cookies, installs any kind of spyware or does anything untoward behind the scenes. And that's a promise.

Hey Mike, No doubt this is a great site. They don't even get upset when people come in here trying to get folks to come over to their site.

When you have a chance, be sure to tell everyone over there what a great site this is. Oh yes, you can also tell them there is no subscription price here.

I do believe this site installs one cookie when you select your "Preferences", because I've deleted it by accident before. So you are saying if we "paid" to come to your site and if we set our Preferences, that we would have to do it everytime we logged in? Interesting concept, but I do like mine retained.

Best of luck with your site.

Some do, some don't. Those that don't object often even have links pages, like mine. Those that do object and pull posts are exercising their right to do so, but that's not my way. Apparently not AccurateReloading.com's either. I suppose sites that stand on their own tend to be that way.

You've got a great idea there. Added to my list of great websites worth visiting...

Please let me know of any others you can suggest.

No, AmmoGuide Interactive retains all your preferences without using cookies. I save them on my site, not your computer (you can't accidentally delete them). I only bring it up because some people are concerned by cookie usage, and wanted to allay any fears. Some never saw my 15 year-old free AmmoGuide program (started as an Amiga program in 1988) and may not know AmmoGuide.com as a trusted site.

Cookies aren't bad things, and sure, some web sites use them for saving user preferences and other legitimate uses. But they can be abused. Personally, I believe there is a lot of hype that generates fear around their use, and leave them enabled on my machine. No reason to question AccurateRloading.com's use of cookies (if in fact it uses them).

Best of luck with your site.

Thanks!

Now THAT has my interest - I'd really like to see how they do it. Can you provide a link? (I looked at http://www.beartoothbullets.com/ but couldn't find it.)

You see, the issue is - if you let any free user add load data into the database without an admin checking each load, what keeps the pranksters from contaminating your dataset? I've allowed free users to submit cartridges to the free AmmoGuide for over 3 years now, via my "Cartridge Creator" tool...

http://ammoguide.com/runcreator.html

...but users have to wait for an admin to vett them because for every credible addition, we get 50-100 joke cartridge submissions! (It takes a long time to manually filter those out too.)

So I'm really curious how they protect the integrity of the database if they allow any free user to add loads to it. Charging a small subscription price isn't going to make anyone rich, still keeps it affordable and should keep out the pranksters. That's the idea, anyway.

You were at the right URL. Click on the tab labeled "LoadSwap.com" and you're in. Good luck.

Yes, your #3 is admittedly a big pain to deal with.

Good luck with your project. The price is very reasonable. I still prefer printed manuals above all, though.

Thanks - I took a look. That IS another excellent site. And very close to what I have, but not quite. I would not normally draw this sharp a comparison, but as it has been thrust on me to differentiate my site's 83 cents/month subscription price, Loadswap has...

1. No favorites list.
2. Has over 1000 less loads (and I hope to be adding thousands more soon)
3. Less friendly interface - can't go right to any cartridge (have to guess what page).
4. No dimensional case diagrams.
5. No histories/descriptions of the rounds.
6. No nominal specifications.
7. No nominal performance characteristics.
8. No load details.

I didn't actually add any loads, so I don't know if it allows the submitter to add freeform comments with links and images to each load, or permits the submitter to edit or hide his data after submission. And I assume it has a forum and personal messaging between members, or you wouldn't be drawing the comparison in the first place.

But it is defintely another excellent site, and I've added it also to my links page. Thanks! This has been a great thread so far, I've learned a lot from what else is out there. I suspect there is sufficient thirst for reloading info on the web that even these 3 sites won't quench.

What a great time to be a reloader, eh?

Sure don't want to upset anyone about spam - that's why there is a user account profile setting for...

'Notify me of AmmoGuide news'

At the bottom of every email that is sent out it says...
----------------
To stop receiving AmmoGuide news:
1. Login to your free personal myAmmoGuide home page:
http://ammoguide.com/cgi-bin/myag.cgi
2. Click on 'Edit myAmmoGuide profile' in the top-right of the screen
3. Uncheck the 'Notify me of AmmoGuide news' setting
4. Click "OK"
(To start receiving news emails again, just re-check the setting.)

That IS another excellent site. And very close to what I have, but not quite. I would not normally draw this sharp a comparison, but as it has been thrust on me to differentiate my site's 83 cents/month subscription price, loadyourown.com has...

1. No favorites list.

2. Not sure how many total loads - AmmoGuide.com has over 2500 (and I hope to be adding thousands more soon)

3. No Visual Comparison tool...

4. No dimensional case diagrams...

5. No histories/descriptions of the rounds.

6. No nominal specifications.

7. No nominal performance characteristics.

I didn't actually add any loads, so I don't know if it allows the submitter to add freeform comments with links and images to each load, or permits the submitter to edit or hide his data (i.e., control it) after submission. And I assume it has a forum and personal messaging between members, or you wouldn't be drawing the comparison in the first place.

I saw where to add loads, but not where to add cartridges. With AmmoGuide, you can add your wildcat (or any favorite that isn't listed among the 250+ there already) with the "Cartridge Creator"...

http://AmmoGuide.com/runcreator.html

...and then follow it up with loads.

But it is defintely another excellent site. This has been a great thread so far - always good to know what else is out there to make sure one stays ahead of the free sites. I suspect there is sufficient thirst for reloading info on the web that even these 2 sites won't quench.

Mike, It's a nice site you've got but I can't see paying you for data that has been given to you.
I scrounge for data not because I don't have any but to compare or find out about new powders I have yet to use.
Here are some links to sites that are usefull. As a matter of fact the start page for this site even has some data.
http://www.slatesafaris.com/7mm.htm
http://www.accuratearms.com/reloading.htm
http://www.alliantpowder.com/
http://www.hodgdon.com/
http://www.hornady.com/
http://www.huntingnut.com/cgi-bin/reloads/loads.pl
http://www.loadyourown.com/
http://www.norma.cc/htm_files/laddindexe.htm
http://www.shootersproshop.com/
http://www.again.net/~steve/page8.htm
(LOTS of usefull info)
http://www.reloadammo.com/
http://www.reloadersnest.com/index.asp

This is enough data to give anyone with reason the ability to start out with some idea of a starting point from which they should work toward max in thier own gun.
It's all FREE!!!!
