I've actually used the 165 grain 30 cal HPBT game kings for 100 yard reduced course NRA HP matches and they do quite nicely at 2/3 the price. They probably suck at 600 yards though...but I never tried em at that range either. In any case they shot better than I could hold and I have won several match and class trophies using those bullets. I have a shooting friend up in Columbus OH who fired a world record group at 1,000 yards using Game Kings!

thats impossible!!! the SGK is a hunting bullet, you cant use it for target shooting! you cant use the SMKs for hunting, and you cant use the SGKs for target shooting!
I think that this is a great question. Why is the match bullet more accurate than the hunting bullet? I have shot in many black powder cartridge competitions and we use lead maxiball type bullets of various designs and these old sharps and creedmoors have no problem printing tight 600 yard groups! How can that be with these bullets? After all they have lower BC and so they should suck...right?
Lets get it going Serria says that the 30 cal 180 game king has won match's. But the MK's are just a bit better. I have had such good luck killing game with match kings I never even tryed the inferior game kings. You all should of posted these on the MK tread just to keep it moving.

I looked in my Sierra Rifle Reloading Manual, and in REALLY fine print at the bottom of SOME pages it says "Sierra does not recommend GameKing bullets for competition applications"...could I have gotten it wrong?

But why? Why is the SGK not acceptable for target or match shooting? I want tangible scientific evidence. I have seen bullets used in BPC that look alot less acceptable for long range target shooting that do very well.
I think the real reason Sierra states that the Game King is not suited for competition shooting is the fact that it is intended to impact animal flesh and not paper or steel !
What's the matter with you people? If a manufacturer CLEARLY states a use for a bullet, you have to follow that recommendation, no? I mean, really, THEY should know, right?
:-) Couldn't resist - after the 1100+ posts on MK's thread, I just HAD to post this absolute tongue-in-cheek reply.
