I read something the other day regarding the number of barrel grooves. They seemed to indicated that there is not much hard evidence to support any one design. In WWII the Army found that 1903 A3 two groove barrels shot no better or worse than a 4 groove so they went with twos to cut costs. The British did the same with the .303. I've had a couple of three groove .308 barrels and like them because they shoot good and seem to clean up better - but there is no hard evidence to support even that. I'd just go with one of the well respected makers and just make sure you get the twist right for the bullet weight and speed you plan to shoot.
RIFLEMAN7; Thank you, I did'nt think there was any difference, but did hear somewhere that four grooves were better than six, just don't remember where I heard it.Again tnx. Jim
