Hello, I'm new to this forum, but have read many interesting posts. I began reloading for one specific rifle, a Savage 99 in 22 Hi Power. Well, I got off track many years ago, and have reloading everything but. I have the die set, and the .228 70 grain bullets. What I don't have is any powder and loading specs. Nor, can I find any. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated for bringing this old gun back to life.

Suggest you slug your barrel before assembling any loads: my .22 HP barrel in my Model 1899 Savage actually has a .224" groove diameter. Yours might be the same, in which case, see if you can get some of the heavier Speer bullets.

Thanks for all the help in gaining info on this rather hard to load cartridge. Very nice of all you who e-mailed.

I'm curious Palidin, over the years I've had a few 22hps & never had one with a 224 bore could yours be a very high serial #? I would think with a bore that size it would be a very desireable rifle!
