I was talking to a sales rep the other day that calls on where I work. He said he and a couple buddies got 7 RUMs and non of them seem to shoot well. BUT none of the guys are reloaders....they are using factory shells. And I'm not sure these guys are "recoil proof". JUst curious how factory ammo performed....velocity and accuracy wise. And, for you guys that reload, were there any reload recipes that seemed to be kind of a "go to" load? (kinda like max loads of retumbo and RE25 seem to make almost any 300 rum sing with 180 and 200 accubonds?

I have recently purchased a 7mm ultra mag. It is a Rem Model 700 LSS. I have worked up to a max load with the 175gr Hornady. I use 96grs of H 5010, rem case and Fed 215 primer. I am getting 3087 ft/sec. I have not tried it for accuracy as of yet because in this part of the country there is still 2 ft of snow, but will soon I hope. Has anyone else used the 175gr bullet---what velocity are you getting, and with what powder? "300 Win mag loaded with a 250 gr Barnes made a good deer load". Elmer Keith
