Scroll down the PPU Ballistics Chart attached below. What powder, and/or barrel length do you think I need to duplicate their .38 Special load? http://www.sportsmansguide.com...22857&cjadv=CJTSGUSA And it's not even listed as a +P!

I personally think there is a problem with the publication of their data. There is no way that a 158gr .38 Special bullet could travel 2959fps.

The lead is liquid upon impact. Kinda like hitting them with a blob of supersonic mercury

Ya think! Of course you can always load a 158-grain .357 bullet in a .35 Whelen. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to get it up to 2950!

Why not a 30-06 energy level with a 38 special case ? roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

38 Special +R +R = It's one of those Ray Atkinson loads. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

Even Ray, I don't think, could get 2957 fps out of a .38 Special case! Maybe you could get there with about 25 grains of Bullseye out of a gun with a receive and breech plug the same thickness as a 155 Howitzer.

Instead of 2957 fps it is probably closer to 957 fps. This is an obvious typo and someone should alert the folks about the error. I can see some dolt using a chronograph and his favorite powder trying to get that same velocity and ruining a good gun and maybe the rest of his life. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
